2017 Year in Review: Culinary Fads

Well 2017 is about to reach its end! The year flew by faster than…a McDonalds Drive thru? Yeah, I might have been reaching on that joke, but hey the effort counts. 2017 has been full of comedy, trends, fads and much more. Continue to read on because the jokes will not be as bad as the previous one!

Salt Bae:

What-Salt-Bae-Meme

Oh Salt Bae, our favorite meat slapping, salt sprinkling and knife wielding chef from Turkey. Nusret Gökçe sent the internet into a frenzy in early 2017 with the way he handles, slices and salts his beef! Avocado…everything?

Where to begin? How about avocado toast, avocado latte, avocado festivals and avocado everything, but when will it end? Yes, I know avocado has been a trend for quite a while now, but here we are at the end of 2017 and we still get mesmerized by this creamy green fruit. Go ahead and make the guac for the party, you’ll be the most “extra” person there! This is a fad that can finally end in 2017.

Unicorn what?

Grilled-Cheese-Hacks

Reality wasn’t the best in 2017; I can see why everyone would like to escape from it. So the best idea someone came up with was “hey lets cover everything with pinks, purples, blues and edible glitter and call it a unicorn something. Unicorn latte’s, unicorn cakes, unicorn soup, unicorn Frappuccino, unicorn bagels and the list goes on! I can appreciate creativity, but eating fictional beings isn’t on my list of trends to keep in 2018.

Yes 2017 was quite the year in the culinary industry, but let’s have hope that 2018 will be much better! Cheers!
